In 1933, André Lelouvier began as a wine and spirits merchant in Briouze, Orne, and later expanded into aging calvados and beer under the Lelouvier brand. Known for quality, André established Calvados Lelouvier in the 1970s, passing it to his son Christian. After Christian's death in 2016, Calvados Christian Drouin SAS took over.
André, aided by his wife Cécile, dedicated his life to finding the best calvados. The production involves using high-quality cider from apples and pears, traditional pressing methods, single distillation in a column still, and meticulous aging in small, active barrels. This process ensures a natural amber color, finesse, and a long finish in the calvados.
