Empreintes Red
Domaine Eric & Joel Durand - Cornas
100% Syrah
The vineyard is owned by two brothers: Eric and Joël. Their vineyards cover 22 ha (8,5 ha of Saint Joseph , 9.5 ha of Cornas, 2 ha de St peray and 2 ha of Vin de Pays). They took over the family estate and started bottling our wine in 1991.They work hard to ensure their harvests will be fully expressive of the terroir. They love wines that have personality but are still fine and elegant.
Plots in different parts of the Cornas area. Granite soils. Vines : 15 to 20 years - 3ha - Yield : 35hl/ha
The grapes are harvested when their balance is at its best. Fermentation starts after destemming and cold maceration for 4 days at 8°C. The cap is punched every day by hand. Vinification lasts 18 to 28 days. Empreintes is matured in two types of barrel: 20% new and the rest used 1 to 5 times.

More density and depth, as well as precision, emerge from the 2020 Cornas Empreintes, a smallerproduction cuvée from 30-year-old vines. Its deep purple hue is followed by a beautiful perfume of blackand blue fruits, bloody meat, pepper, and spring fl owers. I love its focus and length on the palate, andit's medium to full-bodied, with plenty of tannins, a great mid-palate, and a salty, bloody fi nish thatkeeps you coming back to the glass. It's a “wow” Cornas for sure.
