Since 1890, the Dèche family has been shared a passion for the vines.
In 1975, Francis Dèche, 4th génération, bought the Blaise estate, adjacent to the Millet family vineyard with the ambition to produce a famous Armagnac.
This plot , the highest of this estate, benefits a large slope facing south on moor soils . Bordered by groves, and overgrown by gorse, ferns, broom and heather, Francis Dèche had the intuition that this clay-siliceous soil , in places mixed with ferruginous elements, the "sables fauves", would be an excellent terroir for the production of Armagnac.
Year after year, the vines of Baco and Ugni Blanc are planted, the Blaise vineyard is born. It produces a light, acidulous white wine, with a well pronounced aromatic character. At the end of its fermentation, the wine is distilled in a traditional single-distillation, giving Armagnacs with remarkable ageing potential.
Today , His daughter Laurence carries on his work to offer the finest Blaise Armagnacs in a warm atmosphere giving priority to sharing and exchange between generations.
Vineyard
Floc de Gascogne (lou floc = bouquet of flowers in Gascony), is made from fresh grape juice and Armagnac. Developed in the XVIth Century, this liquor wine has been only recognized as an AOC since 1990. Château de Millet Floc is one of the Pioneer of the Floc de Gascogne and has been rewarded many times since.
Winemaking
This Floc is produced exclusively from their own vines of Colombard and Gros Manseng grapes , harvested, vinified at Château de Millet./nDuring the harvest, fresh grapes juices and young Armagnac (1/3 and 2/3) are mixed in a stainless-steel vat, hermetically protected from the harmful effects of oxygen. Before being bottled, the blend rests in the vats until the end of winter with temperature control.
Tasting notes
Bright pale yellow color. Very intense on the noise, thanks to very ripped, fresh grapes notes. In mouth this Floc is very, fresh, supple and balanced.
Food pairing
Perfect with Foie Gras, fruity deserts as well as with cheese like Roquefort. To be served between 42.8°F and 46.4°F.
