Owner of Chateau Lynch-Bages since 1939, the Cazes family has, over the generations, expanded its range of vineyards and developed a true model of tourism based on a tradition of hospitality.
Jean-Charles Cazes models a wine that is quickly recognized. André Cazes, the youngest of his 4 sons, studied law. It was not until the 1960s that he took over the reins of the estate. And like his father before him, his influence will be decisive. He regenerated and enlarged the vineyard, which reached nearly 100 hectares at the end of the 1990s.
After studying engineering, André's son, Jean-Michel, returned to Pauillac in 1973. He was accompanied by Thereza, a Portuguese woman from Mozambique, and their first three children, Kinou, Marina and Catherine, soon to be joined by Jean-Charles. Their marriage, made official by André, then mayor of the town, laid the first stone of a resolutely cosmopolitan family history.
This wine pays tribute to Michel Lynch, a name that is inextricably linked with the great wines of Bordeaux. It has passed through the hands of a renowned winemaking team. Organic wine crafted from carefully selected grapes, it contains as little sulphur as possible, and has an environmentally-friendly packaging that minimises its carbon footprint.Michel Lynch is an elegant and fruit-forward wine, a perfect reflection of its rich terroir, one of the most prestigious in the world.
The mild and particularly rainy winter, followed by a wet spring, created a lot of concern but turned out to be a decisive advantage for this vintage! Once the mildew problems had been eliminated, the soft warmth at the end of June provided very favorable conditions for the vineyard’s development. Throughout the sunny summer, the vines had good reserves and has tapped into rich soil. The regular and early flowering, followed by a more spread veraison allowed a homogeneous harvest which took place in the last days of August. With idyllic sanitary conditions and intact fruit, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon produced balanced, fleshy and aromatic juices.
The 2020 vintage, with its beautiful pale color with silver reflections, reveals an intense nose with aromas of exotic fruits and citrus zests. The palate is full-bodied and fresh, with a nice mineral note on the finish which brings a nice freshness.
