history
The Breban company is one of the last family owned company producing artisanal sparkling wines in the South of France. The House of Breban Wines ("Vins Breban") has been producing and supplying a wide range of wines of varying styles and aromas to restaurants and retail distributors since 1952. The grand-father, Raymond, started elaborating sparkling wine in his garage in 1942. He has then decided to add a full range of wines from Provence. Since that time, two generation have been managing the company with the same passion and philosophy for quality.Today, they are famous in France and all over the world for the quality of the wines of Provence and for their premium hand crafted sparkling wines.
Vineyard
The Domaine Saint Esteve occupies about 30 hectars of land largely consisting of loamy clay and limestone soils. It is located near Rognes in the Bouches du Rhône, between the chain of Côtes and Trévaresse. Its rosé is one of the wines of Provence classified in the Coteaux Aix-en-Provence appellation. Rosé wines produced in this region are supple and fruity. The Domaine Saint Esteve rosé wine comes from the practice of organic farming. Organic agricultural products are grown without fertilizers or chemicals.
Winemaking
A part of the harvest undergoes direct pressing, while the other part is macerated during 7 - 8 hours at low temperature of 42° to 46°F. The two streams of wine liquids then are captured in stainless steel tanks, and further processed by static racking. A fermentation for 8-10 days at low temperature of 56°F. This technique enables the preservation of aromas.
Tasting notes
Domaine Saint Estève rosé has a brilliant pink color. The nose is floral with notes of grapefruit and passion fruit. Its mouth is greedy where we find citrus fruits including lemon. A powerful, straightforward and clean wine.
Food pairing
It can be enjoyed as an aperitif, with tapas, or at the table to accompany both fish and grilled meats, as well as Provencal vegetable dishes or salads. Best to be served at a temperature of 46° to 50°F.
