history
The Dubard Family is for more than 30 years, the most famous producers of refreshing and reasonably priced wines in South-West France. The family members offer differing personalities of graduate oenologists, wine makers and viticulturists who together make up a dynamic and passionate team that has been renowned in the Bergerac wine region for decades. Being receptive to their terroir, combining common sense and long experience with ceaseless wine-making and viticulture: these are the founding principles on which the family has relied in their exceptionnel cuvées. They are also ongoing on the environmental label "HVE" (High Environmental Value).
Vineyard
The 83-ha vineyard of Vignobles Dubard is located on sunny hills that overlook the right bank of the Dordogne river. 37 hectares of this vineyard are dedicated to white varietals, which are 25-years old on average. These vines are closely planted (5,000 vines/ha) on calcareous-clayed soils with grass between rows. Thorough control of the health of grapes and the application of integrated farming principles has optimized the maturity and quality of harvest. Varietals such as Sauvignon Blanc, rich in aromas, are truly grown in the vineyard. Clean and ripe fruit always produce great Sauvignon Blanc here.
Winemaking
Upon arrival to the cellar, grapes are de-stemmed and put into stainless steel tanks, to undergo a 12-hour cold maceration for skin contact. Varietal aromas are extracted at this stage. The grapes are then gently pressed. The juice settles for two days before being racked. The juice is cooled and slowly fermented for about three weeks, using yeasts to complement and enhance the fruit characteristics. After maturation, the wine is lightly filtered. Several tanks are blended. This white is bottled young to retain the fresh and vibrant flavours.
Tasting notes
Tasting notes A wine presenting the characteristics of Sauvignon Blanc with a beautiful freshness and aromatic power that the region is known for. The subtle presence of Semillon gives it its power and fatness. A wine with good balance and a long, harmonious finish thanls to the alliance of these two varietals.
