Founded in 1925, the Cave de Rasteau is one of the oldest cooperative
wineries in the south Rhone Valley in France. The 180 growers benefit
from the exceptional terroir of Rasteau, village that has applied for the Cru
appellation like Châteauneuf-du-Pape; and finally obtained it with the
2010 vintage. The terroir is both complex and consistent, giving the Cave
de Rasteau wines their unique taste.
Vineyard
On the hillsides of the village of Rasteau, beautifully exposed to the sunshine
of Provence.Clay and limestone hillsides. Vines : 20-25 years- 81.5 acres -
Yield : 45hl/ha
Winemaking
Short bush and cordon pruning. 90% harvested by hand. Yield on destemmed
grapes. Traditional fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats.
Ageing in vats .
Tasting notes
Ruby red with aromas of red fruit and blackcurrant; fruity and slightly spicy in
style with a well-balanced tannic structure.
Food pairing
It will be perfect with Roasted chicken; lamb dishes; goat's cheese.
Aging potential
Can be enjoyed young or kept for 2 or 3 years.
