history
Cuvée endowed with a great finesse and delicacy, Pure White from Domaine La Barroche delivers fresh and spicy floral notes, light and greedy aromas of fennel and star anise. Both mineral and pure, it offers a lot of energy and tension in the mouth. Round without being fat, it is a gracious wine that will reveal its fullness and purest expression if decanted.
Vineyard
100% Clairette, this wine is a tribute to one of the oldest grape varieties of Provence, which was planted in the appellation in the 14th century, just like the family estate. Composed of very fine sand of marine origin, and red clay, the terroir of Pialons is characterized by a great fineness and a richness in iron oxide which provide the vine with an exceptional substratum in water and mineral elements. This geological particularity allows the elaboration of an aromatic palette of extreme elegance and a fine and silky touch of mouth expressing a lot of freshness.
Winemaking
This cuvée has been elaborated with the greatest care, taking into account the environment and the stars. In the vineyard, Domaine La Barroche uses natural fertilizers, harvests by hand and makes a rigorous selection of the grapes. In the cellar, this wine is aged for 15 months in ½ muid on lees.

2022
The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Pure Blanc from this terrific estate is based on pure Clairette from the sandier soils of Le Pied Long lieu-dit and was aged 14 months in demi-muids. Its light gold hue is followed by a gorgeous bouquet of stone fruits, honeyed white flowers, spice, and a kiss of crushed stone-like minerality. I’ve found this cuvée to be a touch lean and dilute in the past, yet this brings beautiful depth and richness in its medium-bodied, textured, layered profile, and I love its overall balance and purity. It's going to evolve gracefully for at least 5-7 years and is well worth seeking out.
