history
Jérôme and Frédérique Gueneau created the Clos Chartier in 1993 with a plot of 1.25 hectares. From a very small vineyard, they gradually grew to offer a different kind of wines ( flint, old vines or traditional method). It is now a little bit more than 20 ha (49 acres). In 1996, They built their winery. Then in 2001, he enlarged the cellar and built a storage and a bottling room.
Vineyard
3.11 miles North of the village of Sury en Vaux, in the Sancerre region, 125 miles South of Paris. Clay with flints. Vines : 3 to 30 years - 17 acres - Yield : 60 Hl/Ha - 3.7 T/acre
Winemaking
Traditional vinification with native yeast in stainless steel vats. On lees in stainless steel vats. Ageing on lees gives the wines more fullness.
Tasting notes
Pale yellow. Nose of tropical fruits with a touch of flintiness. A crisp wine with good length.
Food pairing
Shellfish, oysters, grilled fish or simply on its own.
