history
Situated at the South of Sancerre, the peaceful village of Crezancy, the vineyard is located at the feet of the surrounding hillsides. The estate spreches over 28.5 acres of Sauvignon Blanc ( white wines) and 6.2 acres vinified as rose and red wines. Every year is different and depends largely on the climatical conditions, but the thorough maintenance of the vineyard is the beginning of a good vintage. Bertrand Vernay practices a sustainable agriculture . The grass and weeds are letting grow between the row to attract beneficied insect and stave erosion.
Vineyard
The vineyard lays on limestone clays, pebbles and red soil. Vines : 25-30 years old.
Winemaking
Mechanical Harvest .Pressed as soon as the grapes arrive. After a must racking of 12 to 24 hours, the must is placed into a fermentation tank ; Controlled temperatures by thermoregulation during the fermentation.It permits longer fermentations and gives more intense and delicate aromas. Ageing on fine lees. Bottling at the domain.
Tasting notes
Pale golden hue with citrus aromas and mineral hints. The attack gives way to a rich, round palate.
Food pairing
It's a perfect match with mussels, scallops, shellfish or as an aperitif. Serve at 45 ° F.
