The darkest ruby of the 13 samples I received from the industrious Cave Les Vignerons de Tavel & Lirac, the 2022 Tavel Cuvee Royale kicks off with notions of crushed stone, lime zest and macerated berries. It's full-bodied, concentrated and richly textured, with a long, citrus and berry finish that could actually use a few months to smooth out. As it's sealed with the same plastic stopper as the rest of the rosés from this producer, I wouldn't recommend cellaring beyond a year or so, but it might very well show better in six to nine months.
