history
Château Saint Bonnet is a 100% Merlaut family wine estate (from prestigious Château Gruaud Larose, Grand Cru Classé 1855 in St julien). Jean Merlaut is a fervent ambassador of the Medoc appellation and has just launched a massive investment in that region: by acquiring 137 ha of vine & Château, by building up a fantastic and very modern winery, by teaming up with well known wine experts (Regis Portfilet from Chateau Lafite Rothschild and Duhart Milon as winemaker and Eric Boissenot as a wine consultant).
Vineyard
Surface: 137 hectares. Soil: Garonne gravel from the first quaternary, settled more than 600 000 years ago.
Winemaking
Sustainable viticulture to reveal the best of the terroir while minimizing the impact on the environment. Partial natural sodding between raws and mechanical work. Ageing in thermo regulated stainless steel tanks for 14 month.
Tasting notes
Colour: intense and shiny ruby color. Nose: aromas of fresh red and black fruits. Palate: very fruity, easy to drink medoc in a modern style. Soft tannins. Finish: delicate notes of black current, round an fresh notes on the finish.
Food pairing
Médoc wines go extremely well with numerous foods and show their full power when accompanied by white and red meats, game, fish in red wine sauce and firm-bodied cheeses.
