history
The Amadieu family settled in Gigondas in 1929. Pierre Amadieu, grandfather of the current winemaker, whose name is also Pierre, started the business with a small estate in Gigondas. In 1954, he had the opportunity to buy 280 acres that was not planted with vines. He gradually turned it into a vineyard, starting at the top of the hill at a place called "Grand Romane". Later he also planted vines halfway down the hill at the lieu-dit named "La Machotte". With these two domains, Pierre Amadieu is now known as a leading AOC Gigondas producer both in quality and quantity.
Vineyard
Around the village, the vines benefit from a sunnier terroir at the foot of the slopes, on Miocene sandy soils that encourage early ripening of our grapes. At 300 meters at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail, on our Cretaceous limestone marl soils with north-west exposure, the grapes benefit from slower ripening, freshness, and additional aromatic complexity. This cuvée expresses the balance of different terroirs and the blending of different grape varieties.
Winemaking
The vines are hand-picked. Clairette is aged in multi-wine barrels and amphora, preserving the fine tannins of the sandy terroir, and refining the structure provided by the limestone terroir. Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier are aged in stainless steel tanks, preserving the purity and freshness of the fruit.

A beautiful lemony freshness, with a spectrum ranging from flowers to candied fruits. An enticing interplay between measured creaminess and elegant acidity, with a touch of chalky tannins that harmoniously develop in the finish. This is the first vintage of this wine. The cuvée consists of 70% Clairette aged in amphorae and neutral oak barrels, with 25% Marsanne and Roussanne, and 5% Viognier, all vinified in stainless steel. Made from organically grown grapes. Enjoy now or cellar for later.
