history
Just another structure on the French wine scene, Rhonéa is a sort of "sacred union" between two well-known and quality-oriented cooperatives, the Vignerons de Caractère in Vacqueyras and Vignerons de Balma Venitia in Beaumes de Venise. Rhonéa initially achieved this unification with crus from the southern Côtes du Rhône, merging generations of history and strong identities into a single entity. Putting a lie to outmoded clichés and prejudices concerning cooperative cellars, Rhonéa is the successful merging of two cellars that decided to build their future together in a spirit of innovation. Rhonéa brings together 236 estates situated around the Dentelles de Montmirail – a mythical location where the crus of Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Beaumes de Venise are found.
Vineyard
Located northeast of Beaumes de Venise, the Bel Air terroir is distinguished by its characteristic white color, resulting from marl and clay that are 100-140 years old. They nurture old vines and leverage geological specifics, exposure, and altitude for each appellation. Their expertise is demonstrated through the careful selection of plots, rigorous vinification, and aging methods to craft complex and elegant wines.
Winemaking
They hand-harvest Grenache grapes at optimal maturity, which are then destemmed, pressed, and placed into temperature-controlled vats (25°C) for an 18-day maceration. Syrah grapes are fermented in whole bunches. The final blend is aged for 12 months in vats with regular racking-off.

2020
Dark and winey, with a pronounced robe of grilled cedar wrapped around the ripe core of black cherry, currant and singed herb flavors. Shows incense and lavender notes on the polished, warm palate, with fine-grained tannins bringing structure, plus intense iron minerality. Grenache and Syrah. Drink now through 2028.
