history
Cave de Tain is a family-driven cooperative with a legacy of winegrowing that spans four generations. Located at the base of the Hermitage hill, they cultivate 22 hectares alongside additional contributions from member winegrowers, focusing exclusively on wines from their own grapes. In 2014, they invested in advanced technology to enhance wine quality across all appellations, paving the way for innovations such as organic and sulfite-free wines. Committed to sustainability, Cave de Tain also fosters a new generation of winemakers who view themselves as active contributors to the winery’s mission. To taste their wines is to experience this dedication firsthand.
Vineyard
Situated in the northern part and on the right bank. The appellation is 50km long and our vineyards are located in the most southern part. Soil: Vines planted on terraces of granitic sand Climate: Continental with a Mediterranean influence
Winemaking
Hand-picked grapes, strictly selected according to origin and maturity. All grapes are destemmed ; cold maceration for a few days to enhance the fruit. Vatting with soft extraction methods. Malolactic fermentation completed in tank before ageing. Ageing: Partly aged in tank to preserve the fruit and partly in French oak barrels to mellow the tannic structure.
Tasting notes
Color : very intense, brilliant purple Aromas of ripe fruit (blackcurrant, wild berries, blackberry) and spices with a hint of violet. On the palate : complex and full-bodied, the slightly jammy fruit notes are supported by fine freshness. The tannins, though present, are elegant and add complexity to this well-balanced wine.
Food pairing
Goes well with roasted poultry, beef ribs or unpasteurized milk cheeses.
