history
Château Roustan's total surface covers 175 acres of sunny south facing vineyards, which benefit from the airy Mediterranean climate. The domain's owners, are counted among the Rhône valley's most dynamic and talented winegrowers. The work that they accomplish allows the grape to breathe out and they do not use any oak barrels for the ageing of the wines. Amongtheir wines, they produce fresh & easy to drink white and rose wines, on top of a great valuable red.
Vineyard
Saint-Gilles. South facing slopes of the Costières de Nîmes. The Costières de Nîmes are situated in the Rhône valley's most southern part, on the opposite bank of the Rhône with regards to Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Rolled Durance pebbles (the Durance river flowed through the valley well before the Rhône).Vines : 20 years old - 6.5 hectares - Yield : 50 Hl/Ha - 2.5T/acre.
Winemaking
Cooling of the harvest (reduction of 12°C / 54°F). Pre-fermentation period of 3 days to extract the anthocyans and aromatic components. Delestages (rack and return) and thermoregulated fermentation./n6 months in a large oak barrel.
Tasting notes
Fresh and fruity. A “thirst-quenching” wine that is a little tannic but mellow.
Food pairing
Barbecue, T-Bone steak, lamb chops, “cevenole” chitterlings sausage, matured cheese.
Aging potential
To be drunk as from now or to be aged in the cellar.
