history
The Cave des vignerons de Tavel is in the purest Provençal style. It was built in 1937 when Tavel wines were labelled AOC. It is to date the only winery to be opened by a President of the Republic – Albert Lebrun in 1938. The Cave de Tavel produces half of the Tavel AOC wines, as well as Lirac, Côtes-du-Rhône Villages and Côtes-du-Rhône and stretches over 680 Ha..There are 140 producers, all involved in the day-to-day life of the winery and have their say in the investment decisions for making wines which frequently win medals and are regularly mentioned in wine guide.
Vineyard
The Cave des Vignerons de Tavel is in the Rhone Valley 15km from Avignon and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Its geographical position in the heart of the Tavel vineyards on the edge of the village is an indication of its deep local roots. Limestone, smooth pebbles and white earth - Vines : 20 years - 49 Acres - Yield : 44 Hl/Ha
Winemaking
Destemmed grapes. Vatting for approximately 15 days, then pumping-over to blend. This is followed by alcoholic fermentation on the marc and pumpingover two or three times depending on the density. Temperatures are monitored to see if refrigeration is necessary./navel is a unique rosé produced by a type of vinification which makes it completely different from any other rosé and is more like that of a red wine with long maceration of 48 to 72 hours. After pressing, fermentation takes 10 to 15 days at low temperature (13-14°C). It is a blend of drip juices which give it the requisite aromas, fruit, freshness and acidity, and pressing juices which preserve its richness, structure and strength. This clever blend has given rise to a wine to a stylish wine known as Top Rosé of France.

Aromas of watermelon candy and fresh raspberries introduce this penetrating, red-cherried rosé. Dry and dusky pink in hue, it's a full bodied but sprightly expression of Tavel marked by cutting red-berry and cherry flavors along with a lingering spray of limestone minerality. It's well suited for both poolside drinking and as accompaniment to fowl or fish dishes.
