Muscat à petits grains
history
The Amadieu family settled in Gigondas in 1929. Pierre Amadieu, grandfather of the current winemaker, whose name is also Pierre, started the business with a small estate in Gigondas. In 1954, he had the opportunity to buy 280 acres that was not planted with vines. He gradually turned it into a vineyard, starting at the top of the hill at a place called "Grand Romane". Later he also planted vines halfway down the hill at the lieu-dit named "La Machotte". With these two domains, Pierre Amadieu is now known as a leading AOC Gigondas producer both in quality and quantity.
Vineyard
This sweet natural wine selected by Pierre Amadieu is made of 100% Muscat à petits grains. The vines are located on the best terroirs of Beaumes de Venise, some of them are aged of more than 80 years! Harvest begins when grapes are turning brown while keeping a delicate freshness.
Winemaking
Grapes selected by hand are vinified on the domain at low temperature for a better aromatic expression of this wonderful Muscat. No ageing
Tasting notes
A shiny gold colour, lot of roundness on the palate combined with a perfectly balanced ending composed by scents of Muscat, litchis, mango, pear and citrus fruits. The persistency in mouth is really fresh.
Food pairing
Appreciate it as an aperitif, foie gras and its fig compote. Fruity desserts will also match with this fresh and very aromatic Muscat wine.
