history
La cave des Vignerons du Vendomois has been created in 1929. It gathers 39 winegrowers for a surface of 165 ha of vines and belongs to Alliance group. Alliance Loire is a group of winegrowers who decided in 2002 to pool their resources in order to offer a complete range of authentic, well-balanced wines from Muscadet to Vouvray along the Loire River. Loire wines in general are known as reasonably priced refreshing wines
Vineyard
This cuvée is devoted to César de Vendôme, Duke de Vendôme and illegitimate son of Henri IV, who gave his name to the famous Place Vendôme in Paris. Located North of the beautiful Loire Valley, the Coteaux du Vendômois appellation covers limestone hills with flint and clay topsoil. These follow the meandering Loire River and have excellent sun exposure.Vines: 25 to 30 years old - 33 ha - Yield: 60 hl/ha
Winemaking
The grapes are put through a pneumatic winepress. The must is fermented at 20°C and the wine is aged on its lees and bottled early. Aged on its lies and bottled early.
Tasting notes
Brilliant pale pink color with salmon-colored highlights. Fresh nose with peppery and fruity (strawberry, grapefruit) overtones. Beautifully vivacious on the palate. Full-bodied and spicy, with a long aftertaste.
Food pairing
Served well-chilled (7°C), this wine makes a fine partner for starters, fish, delicatessen meats, and grilled meats. Suggested dishes: seafood paella, smoked duck breast salad.
