The Amadieu family settled in Gigondas in 1929. Pierre Amadieu, grandfather of the current winemaker, whose name is also Pierre, started the business with a small estate in Gigondas. In 1954, he had the opportunity to buy 280 acres that was not planted with vines. He gradually turned it into a vineyard, starting at the top of the hill at a place called "Grand Romane". Later he also planted vines halfway down the hill at the lieu-dit named "La Machotte". With these two domains, Pierre Amadieu is now known as a leading AOC Gigondas producer both in quality and quantity.
Coming from our oldest vines of Clairette planted in 1955 on our terroir in altitude (around 300 m), this wine is a pure rarity: 100 % Clairette, stemming from our soils of Gigondas. So many particularities which make of this wine an exception. It expresses the freshness of our terroir of Gigondas and shows itself quite in unctuousness.
Vines are harvested manually towards the end of September, pressed and vinified entirely in new french barrels. Ageing on fine dregs during 6 months.
An outstanding wine, very well balanced, all in complexity and fineness, unveiling notes of pears, apples and a touch of nuts and acacias. Still round in mouth, the wine is very delicate.
To drink as an aperitif, with grilled fishes, or with a goat cheese.
1 to 5 years at 54 °F.
100 % Clairette

Bright and fresh, with starfruit, yellow apple and yellow plum notes streaking through, laced with verbena and honeysuckle along the way. Delicious.
