history
The Breban company is one of the last family owned company producing artisanal sparkling wines in the South of France. The House of Breban Wines ("Vins Breban") has been producing and supplying a wide range of wines of varying styles and aromas to restaurants and retail distributors since 1952. The grand-father, Raymond, started elaborating sparkling wine in his garage in 1942. He has then decided to add a full range of wines from Provence. Since that time, two generation have been managing the company with the same passion and philosophy for quality.Today, they are famous in France and all over the world for the quality of the wines of Provence and for their premium hand crafted sparkling wines.
Vineyard
This Rosé wine is produced from traditional regional grapes, . The vineyards of this winery are planted mainly on the very dry slopes of Jean Giono' s Provence. Viticulture is very respectful of the environment even though the wines benefit from modern winemaking technology. Wine production in the Alpes de Haute Provence takes place between Durance and Verdon. Some winemakers are producing wines under local AOP, others under the name of Country Wine IGP. Like the other wines classified as Country Wines IGP, rosé wines LA TONNELLE has to face very strict specifications : the wines must first be originated from a plot located on the departments of Alpes de Haute Provence, and its production must meet a maximum yield of 90 hectoliters per hectare.
Winemaking
The syrah, a grape variety from northern Rhône Valley, gives this wine its structure, color, and aromas of red berries, with a scent of violets. No ageing.
Tasting notes
Salmon color, with a great intensity on the nose (gooseberry), and a supple texture. Easy to drink.
Food pairing
A perfect accompaniment to quiches, pissaladières, and crudités. To be served at a temperature of 59° to 64°F.
Aging potential
2 or 3 years.
