history
In 1957, around forty winegrowers grouped together to confront the economic difficulties of the era, pooling far more than mere financial concerns. At the time, Robert, Marcel, Yvon, Geneviève and the others, hailing from the same terroir, hewn from the same rock and sharing the same time-honoured values, set up their cooperative at the top of the hill in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg. “They chose to share their experience, their expertise and their dreams„
Vineyard
Near the city of Saumur in the Loire Valley, 150 miles West of Paris in the direction of the Atlantic Ocean. The subsoil consists of the same tufa limestone that was used to build the famous Loire Valley castles. 40 years old vines - 8 acres - Yield : 50 Hl/Ha - "Les Petites Roches" comes from the finest terroirs in the new Saumur Puy Notre Dame appellation.
Winemaking
The vines grow on plots with hard limestone rock from the Jurassic period at an altitude of 50-105 metres. The grapes are only picked when perfectly ripe in each specific plot to give the wine its unique structure, power, and elegance. Traditional winemaking. Destemming of the grape, long maceration with soft extraction. After bottling, the wine is stored in our tufa cellars where it ages away from light and variations in temperature.
