Domaine Riere Cadene is a family winery nested between Mediterranean Sea and Pyrenees Moutains, in a Region called Roussillon. Since 1904, from father to son, they use the same traditional skills and perpetuate their precious understanding of the wine. They are committed to producing high quality wine that reflect their great Terroir, in a sustainable way (ongoing conversion to organic farming). Here many years ago, a family of winegrowers began cultivating two exceptionally distinctive terroirs, with the accent on freshness, elegance, and attention to detail and the story never ended.
Augusta is a tribute paid to the antic road built through the Pyrenees Mountains by Emperor August, 2000 years ago. Terroir is made of pebbles of granite and quartz, clay-limestone soil. Mediterranean climate.
100% sorted and destemmed grapes. 2 days cold pre-fermentation skin maceration (8°c). 15 days maceration at low temperature. Slow and soft pressing (selection of first running juices). Matured in tank 6 months before bottling (April).
Intense garnet red colour, with purple glimmers. Fresh fruit notes dominate (raspberry and blackberry). In the mouth, a very nice freshness, with soft spices notes and hints of green pepper. Tannins are smooth and round.
To enjoy with roasted meat or stew, cold cuts or cheese.
