Château Haut-Barrail, and its windmill, has been existing since 1362. The oldest parts of the current House were built at the beginning of the 17th Century. Nowadays, it represents the typical architecture of the 18th. 2 symbols are engraved on the front stones: " Vines and Wheat". The Cyril Gillet Domains are situated in center of Medoc area on the Begadan district, spreads over 37 acres. Owners since 1987, the Gillet family has done a lot to restore the estate. The first vintage of Château Haut-Barrail was 1995.
Château Haut-Barrail is situated in the Bordeaux Region called Medoc. The wines grow on gentle hillsides facing the Gironde, with good natural drainage. 15 hectares made of clay and limestone.
Sustainable agriculture practices - Pruning in double Guyot. Leaf-stripping and
traditional winemaking. Cold Maceration during 24 hours minimum- Natural yeasts. Fermentation in stainless steel thermo-regulated vats.
12 months ageing. 60% new barrels and 40% old barrels .
Intense garnet, with black tendencies. Fine wine with aromas of ripe fruit and toasted almonds. Soft and fruity, lingering aroma.
Médoc wines go extremely well with numerous foods and show their full power when accompanied by white and red meats, game, fish in red wine sauce and firm-bodied cheeses.

This is very ripe, leaning toward the jammy side, with plums and currants. But it comes out really nicely. It’s full-bodied and layered with rich fruit and tannins. Nicely done. Needs two or three years to come together. Best after 2023.
