history
Domaine Riere Cadene is a family winery nested between Mediterranean Sea and Pyrenees Moutains, in a Region called Roussillon. Since 1904, from father to son, they use the same traditional skills and perpetuate their precious understanding of the wine. They are committed to producing high quality wine that reflect their great Terroir, in a sustainable way (ongoing conversion to organic farming). Here many years ago, a family of winegrowers began cultivating two exceptionally distinctive terroirs, with the accent on freshness, elegance, and attention to detail and the story never ended.
Vineyard
Icon of Domaine Riere Cadene. Soil extremely rocky (pebbles), Mediterranean climate.
Winemaking
Grapes are grown on carefully selected plots, handpicked when the phenols reach optimum maturity, destemmed, and cold macerated for 72 hours prior to three weeks of vat fermentation. The free-run juice is poured off. The wine is aged for twelve months in the barrel, and then in the bottle.
Tasting notes
Playfully seductive, fine and elegant. A true thoroughbred. This wine is full of personality and makes a big impact. The Syrah adds spicy notes of licorice and Penja and Kampot peppers, evolving into hints of violets and leather. Our old plot of Grenache is redolent with black fruit and the fragrance of the garrigue.
Food pairing
Perfect with roasted meats, leg of lamb with rosemary, veal stew with olives, haunch of venison.
Aging potential
10 years
