history
Château La Branne is situated in the wine city Begadan, in the Medoc peninsula, 70 kms from Bordeaux. Philippe Videau had only one goal: be a winemaker. In 1986, he took back the little family Domain (only 2 ha at the beginning). Now the Estate spreads over 30 ha with différent and complementary terroirs. In 1999, with the will to improve the potential of the Vineyard, Fabienne et Philippe Videau decided to make their wines whithin the Domain: here is the beginning of Château La Branne.Since July 2016, their work in harmony with the environment has allowed them to obtain HVE certification (high environmental value).
Vineyard
On the presqu'ile du Medoc, the vines of Chateau la Branne covers on sandy gravel , clay-limestone and clay-gravel soil. Vines : 30 year-old - 25 ha - Yield : 55 hl/ha.
Winemaking
Mecanical harvest. Traditional winemaking with skin contact after the fermentation for several weeks. One year in oak barrels. One-third new each year.
Tasting notes
Subtle aromas of ref and berry fruits. Perfect harmony of smoothly vanilla spices and very round in mouth. This wine is well structured, with a mix of complexity and balance.
Food pairing
Perfect match with veal shop, lamb, roasted pigeon as well as a Saint-Nectaire cheese.
Aging potential
2 to 5 years.

Blackcurrant aromas with bacon and earth follow through to a medium body with chewy yet fine tannins and a lightly smoky finish to the dark fruit. Give it a year or two to come more together. Try after 2024.
