Cabernet franc (100%)
history
In 1957, around forty winegrowers grouped together to confront the economic difficulties of the era, pooling far more than mere financial concerns. At the time, Robert, Marcel, Yvon, Geneviève and the others, hailing from the same terroir, hewn from the same rock and sharing the same time-honoured values, set up their cooperative at the top of the hill in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg. “They chose to share their experience, their expertise and their dreams„
Vineyard
The plots of the cuvée Saint Martin are situated in the North shore of the Loire, where there is an ideal microclimate and the vines are sheltered from the sun exposure. The terroir features sandy topsoil with gravels that expresses the aromatic potential and smooth tannins of this Cabernet franc wine. Age of the vines: 30 years-old (average) / Yield: 50hl/ha / Vineyard size: 6ha
Winemaking
Selection of parcels depending on the tasting of berries. Grapes are picked when they achieve optimum ripeness and a fruity aromatic profile. Vinification in thermo-regulated vats (75°F) and short maceration to conserve the smoothness of tannins and fruitiness of the grapes./nAged for 5 months before bottling in spring season.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby color. The nose has aromas of ripe fruits (plum, blackcurrant, blackberry) and violet, accentuated by hints of spices (black pepper). Full-bodied on the palate with soft tannin, the wine is well balanced between freshness and roundness. Persistent finish of cooked fruits.
Food pairing
Enjoy chilled (57-60°F), this red wine goes perfectly with fine delicatessen meats, salads, roasted white meats (such as grilled chicken with estragon), and soft cheeses.
