Vineyard
Located in the heart of Saumur region, the Cabernet franc vines grow on a gentle slope at the foot of the traditional winegrowing community of Courchamps. The domaine has 5 plots with the same terroir: sand and clay soil mixed with sandstone. Christian Blet, 4th generation of winegrowers , is passionated by Vines ,terroir and its story has chosen to keep 4 rows , as a tribute to his ancestors' work : vines planted very narrow and curved to let the horse passing to work the vines. Age of the vines: 40 years (average) - Yield: 50 hl/ha - Vineyard size: 6 ha
Winemaking
The grapes are totally destemmed. Fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats (73-75°F). Light daily pumping over during the first third of alcoholic fermentation, followed by a long maceration (16 days). Malolactic fermentation in our cellars./nThe wine is aged for 6 -10 months before bottling.
Tasting notes
Beautiful dark-red color. Expressive nose of red fruit aromas (raspberry, black currant, black cherry). Harmonious and full-bodied on the palate, this red wine has a fine tannic structure. Long and elegant finish.
Food pairing
Best enjoyed slightly chilled (57-60°F), it goes perfectly with delicatessen and red meats or soft cheeses.
Aging potential
up to 7 years.
