La Javeline Off Dry White
Cave des Producteurs de Vouvray - Vouvray
Chenin White 100 %
The Cave des Producteurs de Vouvray was created in 1953, at the initiative of a small group of wine growers. The initial project was to pool their resources and create a production tool able to make wines in sufficient volume to penetrate new markets, at the same time preserving a high level of quality which was essential to the commercial development of Vouvray wines, and more particularly the sparkling wines. Sixty years later, the adventure continues with 30 wine growers, who work together 400 ha of vineyards, distributed over the whole Vouvray Appellation area.
The Vouvray vineyards cover 2,000 hectares of clay-limestone terroir to the East of Tours. The Chenin Blanc vines, also known as Pineau de Loire, enjoy wonderful exposure to the sun on the plateau overlooking the Loire River. The grapes are harvested at peak ripeness to obtain a perfect balance between freshness and softness
Pressing. Light settling to clarify the must followed by slow, low temperature fermentation (64°F). Fermentation stopped by chilling the wine. Aged on fine lees for 6 months and bottled in the spring./nAged on fine lees before bottling.
Tasting notes
Golden color. This wine is semi-sweet. On the nose, it has hints of linden and acacia blossoms, ripe, white-fleshed fruit (peaches and pears), and fine toasty hints. On the palate, it is soft and smooth with a lovely balance, highlighted by a fresh, lively aftertaste.
Food pairing
Serve chilled (50-54°F), as an accompaniment to aperitifs, fish dishes with sauces, white meat dishes (chicken "à la crème"), delicatessen meats, and goat's cheese (St Maure de Touraine).
Aging potential
3 to 5 years.
