history
Elaborating this unique wine called “Champagne”, creating some typical cuvées which reflect the terroir and also the family know-how : all this is a real privilege which has been taught over more than 4 generations. The family coteaux are located mainly over Ecueil’s vineyard. Ecueil is situated in the Montagne de Reims, between Reims and Epernay. They raise 2 varieties of grape: Pinot Noir, fame of Ecueil and Chardonnay. As winemakers, they feel truly fortunate to work close to nature and give it all the respect that it deserves.
Vineyard
The PREMIER CRU village of Écueil is situated on the western flank of the "petite Montagne de Reims". This particular terroir is characterized by an incredibly diverse sub-soil. Some parts are predominantly sandy over the deep chalk, others composed of "sparnacian" clay and shallow chalk at the bottom of the hillsides, similar to the soils of Les Mesneux. 2014
Disgorged in June 2018 with 3.5 grams per liter dosage, the 2014 Extra-Brut Premier Cru Chaillots Hautes Vignes C.H.V. is showing very well indeed, exhibiting aromas of warm bread, lemon oil, white flowers and hazelnuts. Medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, this is the chalkiest, most tensile and most overly mineral wine in the Lacourte Godbillon range. That's not surprising, as it's entirely Chardonnay from Pinot Noir-stronghold Ecueil.
