history
The vineyard is owned by two brothers: Eric and Joël . Their vineyards cover 13 ha (8 ha of Saint Joseph and 5 ha of Cornas). They took over the family estate and started bottling our wine in 1991. They work hard to ensure their harvests will be fully expressive of the terroir. They love wines that have personality but are still fine and elegant.
Vineyard
In the Northern Rhône Valley, south of Saint Joesph area. Plots are in different parts of the Cornas area . Ganite soils . Vines : 3 ha - Yield : 35hl/ha - 20 years old.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested when their balance is at its best. Fermentation starts after destemming and cold maceration for 4 days at 8°C. The cap is punched every day by hand. Vinification lasts 18 to 28 days. Emotion is matured in two types of barrel: 20% new and the rest used 1 to 5 times.
Tasting notes
Highly concentrated nose of stone fruits and spices. The mouth is very powerful with really tight tannins. This wine is very strong and generous, but it also has a great delicacy.

This spicy, perfumed Syrah is produced by Eric and Joël Durand, who also make an eponymous series of Northern Rhône wines. Rich and brawny, it's packed with flavors of crème de cassis accented by flecks of espresso powder, cacao and pencil lead. There's no denying the massive, weighty feel of Cornas from this hot vintage but the wine also offers a lift of minerality and luminous fruit profile. Approachable young, the wine will improve through 2040 and hold further.
