The Fruitière Vinicole d’Arbois was one of the very first cooperative wineries to be established in France. It was founded on 4 January 1906, at the instigation of 26 wine-growers from Arbois, in the wake of the phylloxera blight, when the aphid-like pest nearly wiped out French vines. The project was initiated for the purpose of resisting competition from inferior wines without designated origins.

Determined to offer consumers the best of the wines of the Jura region, the cooperative chose to remunerate its vintners based on the quality of the grapes they supplied, by carrying out a strict selection. This collective approach of the pursuit of excellence contributed to Arbois wines being attributed the very first French AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée). The AOC Arbois was followed by the AOC Côtes du Jura.

Since 1929, the Amadieu family has been a staple in Gigondas, starting with Pierre Amadieu, the grandfather of the current winemaker of the same name, who began with a small estate. By 1954, he expanded by acquiring 280 acres in "Grand Romane" and later added "La Machotte" vineyards, establishing a prominent position in AOC Gigondas. The vineyards on sloped terrains follow the natural contours of the land, emphasizing sustainable practices such as drainage and grass cover to combat erosion and maintain low yields for aromatic concentration. The old vines, originating from Pierre’s initial plantings, receive meticulous care, enhancing grape quality through hand-harvesting and traditional vineyard techniques. Recent additions include 1.63 hectares of Cinsault and 5.25 hectares of Syrah, chosen for their adaptability to the region's arid limestone soil and higher altitudes, reflecting the estate's commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative viticulture.

This wine showcases the richness, concentration, and spicy complexity expected from this appellation. An excellent interplay of elderberry notes, licorice, wild herbs, and a chocolatey character, with powerful yet velvety tannins. A bold yet refined finish. The cuvée is composed of 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre (all whole cluster), and 15% Syrah, sourced from older vines planted in the 1950s. Bottled without filtration. This wine should age well. Domaine Chante Cigale, established in 1874 by Hyppolite Jourdan, is a historic family-owned estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Initially named "Clos Chante Cigale," it was renamed in 1936 when Châteauneuf-du-Pape became France's first AOC. Today, under the leadership of Alexandre Favier, the estate spans over 40 hectares across 45 parcels within the appellation. Deep purple-hued, with gorgeous dark fruits, peppery herbs, spring fl owers, andbackground oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a layered, seamless mouthfeel,and a great fi nish. It's a stunning Crozes readers will love to have in their cellar. It's great today yetshould evolve for well over a decade.

Beautiful quince, white flowers, toasted bread, and subtle spice notes, as well as an undeniable salty minerality, emerge from Durand's 2022 Saint-Péray, a medium-bodied Saint-Péray that has nicely integrated acidity, remarkable purity, and outstanding length.

The flagship from this terrific estate is the 2021 Gigondas Le Pas De L'Aigle, which is mostly Grenache that sees a longer élevage in oak. It shows the more mid-weight style of the vintage yet has beautiful black raspberry and ripe berry fruits, medium body, good mid-palate depth, and ripe, balancing tannins. It's beautifully done, and while it will offer pleasure in its youth, this has enough structure to evolve gracefully in the cellar.

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Pure Blanc from this terrific estate is based on pure Clairette from the sandier soils of Le Pied Long lieu-dit and was aged 14 months in demi-muids. Its light gold hue is followed by a
gorgeous bouquet of stone fruits, honeyed white flowers, spice, and a kiss of crushed stone-like minerality. I’ve found this cuvée to be a touch lean and dilute in the past, yet this brings beautiful depth and richness in its medium-bodied, textured, layered profile, and I love its overall balance and purity. It's going to evolve gracefully for at least 5-7 years and is well worth seeking out.

As has been the trend for several years, the weather in 2023 has raised questions among the 438 members of Synvira regarding the future of winemaking. The recently harvest, except for certain plots saved for late harvest, is expected to confirm a smaller Riesling crop. This iconic Alsace variety seems to be the most sensitive to climate change. It is struggling with high temperatures, resulting in smaller grape clusters. In less favorable conditions, some winegrowers had to settle for meager yields of 10 to 20 hectoliters per hectare. Even the best yields did not exceed 55 hectoliters per hectare, far below this year's allowance of 75 hectoliters per hectare. In contrast, Pinot Noir had an exceptional year, producing large and dense clusters of grapes. "Our current climate resembles that of Burgundy two decades ago. Therefore, the focus is not on hasty planting but rather on the swift identification of terroirs suitable for this grape variety, with the goal of capitalizing on increased value in the future, even if the current yield (60 hectoliters per hectare in the Alsace appellation, 55 hectoliters per hectare in lieu-dit) should potentially be reduced to, for instance, 40 hectoliters (5 million bottles) per hectare.&nbsp;

As to the reds, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape has agorgeous nose of ripe red and black fruits, smokedgame, iron, and some tapenade to go with medium tofull-bodied richness and depth on the palate. It’s oneheck of a great base cuvée and certainly stands up tothe smaller production special cuvées. The blend is 65%Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre andCinsault that was partially destemmed and brought upmostly in concrete tanks. Drink this total charmer overthe coming 10-12 years.

The 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Extrait is based on an interesting split of 60% Mourvedre and 40% Grenache that comes from very old vines and the pebbly soils of the Piedlong lieu-dit. It spent two years in old barrels. Ripe black and blue fruits, liquid smoke, graphite, and spring flower notes define the nose, and it’s medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and backward, with building tannins and some obvious oak. It needs a solid 2-4 years of bottle age and should evolve for at least 10-15 years.

The global wine market is in constant motion. Two retailers, separated by thousands of kilometers, have observed trends that may signal a resurgence in red wines, albeit for different reasons. In the United Kingdom, Waitrose noted that its customers have "traded ros&eacute; for red wine due to a rainy summer." While the more favorable weather in September may have shifted the scenario, Waitrose reported impressive sales figures for its red wine offerings until the end of August.&nbsp;

The ancient vineyard of Châteauneuf-du-Pape became world famous when the Popes settled in Avignon in 1350. It later became the first French appellation d’origine contrôlée in 1933 under the influence of Baron Le Roy. Lying in the heart
of this illustrious appellation, the 14th-century Domaine des Sénéchaux is among the region’s oldest wineries. It gets its name from one of the estate’s principal plots, located in the “Bois Sénéchaux” neighborhood.

I loved the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, and this is a wine I’d be thrilled to own. Sporting a ruby/plum color as well as a terrific notes of sweet red fruits, herbes de Provence, sweet spice, and garrigue, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a light, elegant mouthfeel, soft tannins, and a great finish. It’s not massive or powerful, but it’s beautifully balanced, elegant, and nuanced. Drink this terrific 2020 any time over the coming 10-12 years. The blend is 54%Grenache, 25% Syrah, and the rest Mourvedre, and it was partially destemmed and brought up in a mix of foudre, older barrels, and concrete.

This estate always makes a terrific white, and their2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is no exception. Bright melon, honeyed citrus, and floral notes all define the nose, and it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a fresh yet textured mouthfeel, and a clean, dry finish that will shine on the dinner table. It's well worth seeking out.

The 2023 vintage has brought immense joy to three distinct wine regions: Champagne, Cognac, and Corsica. On the picturesque island of Corsica, there is a buzz about an "exceptionally abundant harvest," as delightfully exclaimed by Nathalie Uscidda, Director of the Center for Insular Viticultural Research (CRVI). A remarkable 400,000 hectoliters of wine (=533 million bottles) have been processed in both Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud.&nbsp;
The rainy spring proved to be quite favorable, resulting in a generous grape harvest and sparing the vines from nitrogen deficiencies. "The vintners adeptly managed the health challenges and reaped a harvest of remarkably robust grapes," Nathalie Uscidda emphasized. Charlotte Lemonnier from the Comte Peraldi estate chimed in, confirming, "We swiftly tackled the minor bouts of downy mildew." Following 40 days of diligent harvesting, she calculated an average yield of nearly 38 hl/ha, spread across 50 hectares (123 acres) ranging from Ajaccio to&nbsp;Sart&egrave;ne. She expressed her delight, stating, "It surpasses the years prior."&nbsp;
Charlotte Lemonnier could have achieved even more, were it not for sporadic rain showers that could have halted cicadas from damaging leaves. "Toward the end of August, despite our applications of black soap, it inflicted significant harm on the foliage and the photosynthetic process." Much like her, cicadas left numerous winegrowers perplexed. Nathalie Uscidda confirmed, "We observed damage throughout the entire Corsican vineyard." In some of her vineyards, Charlotte Lemonnier had to wait for an extended period for the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. She concluded, "By the end of September, I finally instructed my harvesters to meticulously sort and pick only the grapes suitable for consumption."&nbsp;

<h3>Wines showing great potential.&nbsp;&nbsp;</h3>

Alcoholic fermentation proved to be less challenging than the ripening stage. Château La Branne is situated in the wine city Begadan, in the Medoc peninsula, 70 kms from Bordeaux.   Philippe Videau had only one goal: be a winemaker. In 1986, he took back the little family Domain (only 2 ha at the beginning). Now the Estate spreads over 30 ha with différent and complementary terroirs.  In 1999, with the will to improve the potential of the Vineyard, Fabienne et Philippe Videau decided to make their wines whithin the Domain: here is the beginning of Château La Branne.Since July 2016, their work in harmony with the environment has allowed them to obtain HVE certification (high environmental value).

Blackcurrant aromas with bacon and earth follow through to a medium body with chewy yet fine tannins and a lightly smoky finish to the dark fruit. Give it a year or two to come more together. Try after 2024.

It is to date the only winery to be opened by a President of the Republic – Albert Lebrun in 1938. Born in 1754, Michel Lynch devoted his life to impro­ving the wines on his Lynch-Bages property. A shrewd wine producer, he was one of the prime movers in the viticultural advances at the end of the 17th century, in particular with the early trials of de-stemming (sepa­rating the stalk and pips) before fermentation, which subsequently became widespread in Médoc.

Two centuries later, his memory lives on in the name Château Lynch-Bages. And in 1986 the vineyard’s owner, Jean-Michel Cazes, created a new range of quality wines that also bears his name.

Michel Lynch is a selection of wines that faithfully reflect the full diversity and wealth of Bordeaux’s vineyards. They are wines intended for amateurs wanting to immediately enjoy a wine embodying the finesse and richness typical of the region.

In a protected environment, among green oaks and cypress trees, the region has everything it takes to make great wines. In 2002, Jean-Michel Cazes created an estate of 150 ha of which 60 ha are planted with vines and 25 ha with olive trees,
on the slopes of the «Petit Causse».
The estate then underwent complete restructuring: drainage works and planting the varietals according to the potential and type of terroir in each parcel. In the ancient language of Oc, «ostal» denotes both the family group and the house where they live.

Since 2002, the Roquette family (Quinta do Crasto - Douro) has been associated to the Cazes family (Château Lynch-Bages - Pauillac) to produce great wines that ally the natural and unique characteristics of the Douro to the Cazes family’s experience of making top Bordeaux wines. Roquette & Cazes came into being with the 2006 vintage, and has benefitted since its launch from the expertise acquired with Xisto. Its keeping potential differentiates it from its older sibling. More accessible, it is ready to taste as soon as it is put on the market.

Château Bentéjac is located on the slopes and plateaus of Asques. The diversity and richness of the soils associated with the microclimate allow this wines to be produced in the greatest Bordeaux traditions. The cellar master blends the cuvées respecting Bordeaux terroirs and its two main grape varieties: Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon.

Château du Levant is Château Liot’s second wine and belongs to the family David since several generations and it is Jerry David today who takes charge of the production of these 20 hectares of vineyards, conducted in sustainable agriculture.
Located near Château Climens, on the tray (plateau) of High
Barsac (Haut Barsac), the vineyard takes advantage at most of the microclimate of Sauternes. After a rigorous selection of the noble grains, the grape harvests are the object of a particular attention by the owner to produce fine and elegant wines. 

Since 1464, the Château Grand Mazerolles vineyard extends on the terroir of the right river of Gironde. Today, the property belongs to the Schweitzer Family in AOC Blaye, Côtes de Bordeaux Appelation, in the Berson village. Luc and his two sons Ludovic and Richard have the culture of vines, and the taste for work well done. It is for than each cuvée is elaborated with much care and passion. We can find in each wine of Château Grand Mazerolles all quality of the terroir and
the quality of the great wines of Bordeaux.

In the 11th and 12th centuries, the Bordeaux region was marked
by the English presence. At the same time, the Benedictine monks decorated the Saint-Emilion monolithic church with sculptures influenced by the Celtic culture.
This mixing of Anglo-saxon and Celtic culture has thus shaped our region. This is also reflected in the historical name of our estate: La Claymore. English-sounding, this name was written Claimh Mhor in Celtic, and referred to the broad sword of the Scottish Highlanders, Celtic warriors who are supposed to have fought with the English Army in Aquitaine.

Situated on the outskirts of Pauillac, overlooking the Gironde estuary, the Lynch-Bages vineyard (1855 Grand Cru Classé) stretches over a beautiful gravelly hilltop. Formerly owned by the illustrious Lynch family, of Irish descent, the estate was acquired by the Cazes family in 1939.

Château Ormes de Pez belongs to the Médoc landscape since the 18th century. Located West of Saint-Estèphe and bordering the hamlet of Pez, the estate owes its name to a magnificent grove of elm trees, which no longer exists today. Château Ormes de Pez is the second property – after Château Lynch-Bages – acquired by the Cazes family in 1939.

Located in the central part of the Graves appellation, Château Villa Bel-Air is perched at the top of a gently sloping, gravelly hillside with an ideal microclimate for vine growing.

This beautiful chartreuse was built in the XVIII century by an advisor to the Bordeaux parliament, Louis Dufaure, Marquis of Lajarte. Louis was one of the era’s great architects and designed this traditional Gironde ‘’chartreuse’’.

Towards the end of the XIX century, the chartreuse and its vineyards were given a new lease of life. The owner at the time, Honoré Zappa, an aesthete and wine merchant in Bordeaux, designed the beautiful gardens complete with water feature and several Italian-inspired sculptures.

In 1988, the estate was bought by the Cazes family who immediately began a comprehensive restructuring of the vineyards and technical facilities. Inspired by the spirit of the property and its Italian roots, Jean-Michel Cazes gave the Château its definitive name ‘’Villa Bel-Air’’.

Finally, in 2017, this beautiful 18th-century estate was bought by the family of Armand Ballande and benefits from the most advanced winegrowing techniques, while remaining true to the ancestral traditions. The team is advised by Derenoncourt Consultants and has set itself the goal of benefitting from the terroir’s exceptional capacity and continuing to deliver all its potential by producing a white and a red wine that exemplify all the finesse and complexity of Graves wines.

It's medium to full-bodied, plump and expansive on the palate, with a spicy-zesty and fully dry fínish.

There's good freshness to this rosé, with a waft of smoke that blows off to reveal rose oil and crushed pomegranate, powered by blood orange acidity. Creamy in feel, with a nicely unadorned palate. Balanced and well-meshed. Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Clairette and Picpoul.

Brilliant salmon in hue with gold flecks, this wine exudes youthful aromas. Notes of white peach, watermelon flesh, clementine, white pepper and alluvial stone create a fresh and delicate nose. Fleshy on the palate, with mouth-coating acidity accentuates flavors of white tea leaf, jasmine and stone minerality. Easy to enjoy now, especially paired with grilled jumbo prawns or braised monkfish.

"The darkest ruby of the 13 samples I received from the industrious Cave Les Vignerons de Tavel &amp; Lirac, the 2022 Tavel Cuvee Royale kicks off with notions of crushed stone, lime zest, and macerated berries. It's full-bodied, concentrated, and richly textured, with a long, citrus and berry finish that could actually use a few months to smooth out. As it's sealed with the same plastic stopper as the rest of the ros&eacute;s from this producer, I wouldn't recommend cellaring beyond a year or so, but it might very well show better in six to nine months."

The dried spices and stone fruit of the Cinsault make themselves known on the nose, while the wine is medium-bodied in the mouth, ínishing silky and long, with echoes of citrus.

The 2020 Morgon Grand-Cras received a 91 rating.
"The 2020 Morgon Grand-Cras has an intense nose with methol-tinged red fruit that bursts from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins framing the sorbet-fresh red fruit. Lovely vigor and decent length here, this has one over the C&ocirc;te du Py '21 that I tasted alongside. Recommended."

Christophe Sornay is the fifth generation to manage his family's estate in the commune of Villié-Morgon, where the Sornay family has maintained a robust reputation since assuming control of the Domaine in 2007. The family's winemaking tradition dates back generations, with Christophe's great-great-grandfather having worked as a cooper.
The Domaine spans 12 hectares and is deeply rooted in tradition. Committed to environmental stewardship, Christophe Sornay practices sustainable viticulture by weeding the vineyards manually and enriching the soil with mulched branches to enhance humus content. His vinification approach aligns with the Morgon Cru philosophy: "The fruit of a Beaujolais, the charm of a Bourgogne," capturing the essence of both regions in his wines.

The 2022 Morgon Vieilles Vignes has a perfumed, floral bouquet with better delineation and freshness than the Régnié. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit, quite light on its feet thanks to the line of acidity. Though I would like more complexity on the finish, this should age nicely in bottle.

The 2022 Morgon Grand Cras offers more red fruit on the nose compared to the Côte du Py, well-defined with hints of marmalade and blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fleshy and ripe, yet unlike some of its peers, there is satisfying freshness and vigor. Just a delicate touch of white pepper seasons the finish and thus completes a lovely Grand Cras.

2020 Ch&acirc;teauneuf-du-Pape Fragments&nbsp;

"A big black southern Rhone red with a lot of elderberry, smoke and burnt earth character, but miraculously it also has a liveliness and a delicate sweetness that are precisely balanced. So much depth at the finish, the fine tannins already beautifully integrated. A cuvee of 80% grenache, plus syrah, mourvedre and counoise. From organically grown grapes. No destemming. Matured in concrete tanks and amphora. Drink or hold."

Grandfather Francis Usseglio came from Italy in 1931 where he settled in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. He produced his first wine in 1949. 
In 1963, Raymond, the son and Danielle, his wife took over and created the Domaine Usseglio Raymond.
It is essential for Stéphane Usseglio Estate to preserve and respect as much as possible the life and balance of the terroirs and their vines.

Domaine Riere Cadene is a family winery nested between Mediterranean Sea and Pyrenees Moutains, in a Region called Roussillon. Since 1904, from father to son, they use the same traditional skills and perpetuate their precious understanding of the wine. They are committed to producing high quality wine that reflect their great Terroir, in a sustainable way ( organic farming since 2019 vintage). Here many years ago, a family of winegrowers began cultivating two exceptionally distinctive terroirs, with the accent on freshness, elegance, and attention to detail and the story never ended.

In 1920, the Mourre family left France and moved to Algeria in North Africa, where they produced wine for 42 years. Upon their return, they purchased a vineyard in Vacqyeyras. Jean Louis was immediately enrolled on the estate after his studies in geology, making his lifelong dream of producing fine wine come true. His knowledge is unlimited and fascinating.

This red is plump and packed with black cherry, blackberry, floral and earth notes. A firm backbone of tannins is nicely
integrated and lingers with a chalky feel on the finish. 

A ripe, generous wine with great depth of flavor, this is just beginning to come together. Bold tannins and ripe red-berry fruits show the wine's quality and potential. It comes from a small parcel just south of the village of Mercurey.

Located 1 km north of the village of Fleurie, in Roche-Guillon, this family estate has been passed down through five generations, a testament to their loyalty to the vineyard. Now managed by Bruno and his family, the 12-hectare estate produces wines under the Fleurie, Fleurie "Clos de la Tour," Moulin-à-Vent, Chénas, and Beaujolais-Villages appellations. The vineyards, planted on steep, granite-based slopes with south-east exposure and an altitude of over 350 meters, yield grapes with exceptional ripeness and a delicate structure typical of the appellation. Vinification and aging remain traditional to preserve the terroir's typicity, showcasing fruity notes, soft tannins, and richness. Dedicated to sustainability, the estate practices environmentally conscious viticulture, adapting to each vintage to ensure the best expression of their land.

The annual inflation rate in the United Kingdom hit 5.4 percent in December, the highest figure there in nearly 30 years. Canada’s consumer prices are rising twice as fast as before the pandemic. 




Even in Japan, where prices have been depressed almost continuously since the collapse of the late 1980s real estate bubble, the central bank in recent days revised upward its assessment of inflation risks for the first time in eight years. Among major economies, only China has a lower inflation rate today than in early 2020." 




In the United States, the crisis is impacting harder than elsewhere. As David J Lynch points out in the Washington Post, the increase in import prices "particularly on food, oil and raw materials" have jumped by more than 10% (Bureau of Labor Statistics)-a record annual increase for over 15 years. 




According to the journalist, several causes explain this inflation. On the one hand, the post-covid restart of factories is taking place worldwide at different rates. Hence, the balance between goods produced and customer demand is still precarious and therefore contributing to price increases. If the US is facing more brutal inflation than other countries, according to certain economists, it is also due to the structure of the US economy and the way it has been "saved" during the pandemic. In early March 2020, when the initial blockages were sending the economy into free fall, Congress approved a nearly $6 trillion aid package. 




On the other hand, there are long-term variables that suggest inflation will keep on rising. According to the BlackRock Investment Institute, increased protectionism, rising wages in China, and adaptation to a low-carbon economy will put upward pressure on prices in the upcoming years.

If the wine market is relatively spared, as Kristen Bieler mentions it in an article published at the end of December on Wine Spectator (https://www.winespectator.com/articles/is-inflation-coming-for-your-cabernet ), inflation will eventually affect it as well-and more specifically, imported wines. 

 

As container costs and general freight costs increase, the impact on sales prices will be certain. Adding to the fact that the harvests are poorer than usual in some regions, the pressure exerted on prices is for sure going to get worse. Jeff O'Neil (O'Neill Vintners and Distillers) predicts a minimum 10% price increase for regular wines (between $8 and $30). Higher-end wines will be less affected, according to O’Neil. As for sparkling wines, Champagne is facing many problems (e.g., shortages and complex logistics). More affordable wines (e.g., Prosecco, Cava) will also face significant price increases. 




How long will this price surge last? While the U.S. Federal Reserve has expressed doubts about the longevity of the inflationary crisis, many economists believe that it is not transitory. Rocco Lombardo, President of Wilson Daniels, an importer whose references include Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Champagne Gosset, spoke of a "long-term" crisis.

Wine importers are now experiencing 12+ week time frames. This is difficult news to digest when we know that trade volume between Northern Europe and the U.S. increased by 11.4 % in comparison to February 2021, while simultaneously only 14.7 % of vessels were on time (<a title="https://hillebrand.com/docs/default-source/translations/hillebrandgori_shipping-delays-and-the-impact-on-global-trade_fr.pdf?Status=Temp&amp;sfvrsn=114af18_2" contenteditable="false" href="https://hillebrand.com/docs/default-source/translations/hillebrandgori_shipping-delays-and-the-impact-on-global-trade_fr.pdf?Status=Temp&amp;sfvrsn=114af18_2">read about it here from Hillebrand</a>).&nbsp;&nbsp;
Additionnaly, major shipping companies just announced a price increase for July 1st.&nbsp;

The 2022 Saumur Puy Notre Dame 'Ecclesia opens to inviting aromas of red berries, exotic spices, florals and tobacco nuances that all come together seamlessly in the glass. The 2022 Morgon Côte du Py is backward on the nose, but it seems to have
commendable purity of fruit with a subtle floral element lending complexity. The
palate is medium-bodied with crunchy blackberry and wild strawberry, a brisk line
of acidity and a structured finish that doesn't impose too strongly. Give this a
couple of years in bottle, and you'll have a fine Côte du Py on your hands.


This youthful Beaujolais-Villages has a restrained nose of wild flowers with a touch of spice, but on the well-structured palate it makes a bold statement thanks to the ample tannins. Licorice note at the warm finish. Drink or hold.

Cassis, candied violets, black peppery, and some meaty, mineral notes all shine in the 2022 Saint Joseph Les Coteaux, which comes all from hillside parcels in the southern end of the appellation. Textured and medium to full-bodied, it has ripe tannins and a great finish.

Founded in 1928, the estate was bought by the great grandfather but has mainly been developed by the father, Edmond Duclaux.  Today David and Benjamin work manually their 5.8 hectares of vines on the narrow terraces of the Tupin and Semons hillsides.IIn the will to respect their incredible environment, they do not use any insecticide or acaricide.  Also they want their Côte-Rôtie to reflect the southern ‘terroirs’ of the Côte-Rôtie appellation expressing the finesse and the balance of the gneiss soils. The Maison Doré’s history is steeped in tradition and esteem. It all began in 1928. The Maison has passed from generation to generation of winemakers in the Doré family for almost a century. The vineyard is owned by two brothers: Eric and Joël .   Their vineyards cover 13 ha (8 ha of Saint Joseph and 5 ha of Cornas).  They took over the family estate and started bottling our wine in 1991.  They work hard to ensure their harvests will be fully expressive of the terroir. They love wines that have personality but are still fine and elegant.

The 2022 Saint Joseph Expression has outstanding potential and brings lots of fruit as well as some classic Saint Joseph minerality. Red plums, black raspberries, crushed stone, pepper, and bouquet garni notes define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied and textured, with ripe tannins.

The 2022 Cornas Emotion will be a step up over the 2021 and offers beautiful currant and cassis-like fruit as well as graphite, ground pepper, and violet notes. It's medium to full-bodied, has a round, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and outstanding length.

Described as &ldquo;a great success in the vintage&rdquo;, the 2021 Cornas Empreintes was praised with a 90-92 rating by Jeb Dunnuck! Aromas with &ldquo;ripe blackberries, black cherries, peppery herbs, spice, and some meatiness&rdquo; define the bouquet of this wine.&nbsp; Dunnuck goes on by saying that the wine is &ldquo;medium-bodied on the palate, with good concentration, integrated acidity, and outstanding length" and ends by saying that the wine &ldquo;plays in the fresher, elegant style of the vintage but brings plenty of fruit and texture.&rdquo;&nbsp;
