Château l’Ermite d'Auzan was founded in the 11 century by the Eremites of Ste Cécile d’Estagel Abbay. It is situated on the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostella. The estate's total surface covers 80 hectares of sunny south facing vineyards, which benefit from the airy Mediterranean climate. Michel and Jérôme Castillon, the estate's owners, are counted amongst the Rhône valley's most dynamic and talented winegrowers .Today , Tanguy, Jérôme’s son, 4th generation at Château L’Ermitage, has joined them and shares their passion for the vineyard and winemaking. The work that they accomplish allows the grape to breathe out and the use of oak barrels for ageing is restricted as much as possible. The respect of the environment is a priority for the Château l'Ermite. The conversion to organic farming and now to biodynamic farming accredits their daily respect of the soil and the plant.
